Novels

A Hawk Enslaved

Picture
A beautiful hawk-tamer enslaved by Vikings.

Ragnar Ulfsson must find his king a concubine. His solution is Isolde, captured whilst climbing the sea-cliffs for falcons. Enslaved in his own way, Ragnar has few qualms about binding another to his lord for the greater good. After all, it is an honor to share the bed of a king.

Isolde does not view slavery so complacently. Like a hawk caged, she is frantic to escape. But the king’s hall is a bubbling stew of political intrigue and Isolde is an essential ingredient in the mix. Her only hope out is Ragnar, who captured her but also promises to free her—eventually. But there is something strange about this dark Viking, oddly withdrawn and controlled, and their growing bond will lead her into greater danger still.

For Ragnar doesn’t touch women. For good reason.

The Good Viking
(unpublished)

Picture
Vikings murder, rape and plunder, right?

Not Finn Skorrisson, leader of the notorious outlaws of Naastrand Isle. He may wear the horns – if the damn things will only stay on – but he only plunders those who deserve it. He’s sworn off murder as bad for business, and as for rape …

Katla only wishes he would. Well, not rape exactly … but it would solve her current predicament if Finn would stop being so ‘good’ and rid her of her unwanted maidenhood. If she is suitably disgraced, then rich and respectable Yngvar won’t want her as his second wife. Besides, Katla quite fancies the life of the Viking by Finn’s side.

But Katla’s determination to seduce him directly threatens Finn’s cherished goal to clear his name. Thor’s hairy goat, how is a Viking to stay good under such attack?

Novellas

My Lady of the Whip

Picture
Be careful when you pick up a whip. Your fingers curl about that seductive handle, your wrist flexes its subtle weight and then… Yes, you wonder what would happen if you plied those innocent leather strips against another’s flesh.

1348. The Black Death is sweeping medieval London, social order is collapsing, and the virtuous Lady Elizabeth seizes a whip to defend her honour. But when death seems inevitable, Bess throws caution to the plague-ridden vapours …

… to save the man she can never have – William de Montagu, the handsome, persuasive and soon-to-be-married Earl of Salisbury.

The Hunter
(unpublished)

Picture
Hedeby, Denmark, 936 AD – a trading hub of the Viking northlands. Hallbera is the dutiful daughter of Thorstein, dealer in fine furs. While her father focuses on trade abroad, Bera is stuck in Hedeby running her father’s business. Yet while assertive in business, Hallbera is cripplingly shy in matters of the heart. So what is she to do when a lithe, dark hunter from the icy north fixes on her as his quarry? Will Hallbera become the hunted … or decide to turn hunter herself?

Short Stories

Picture

I submitted two entries to a short story competition run by The Romance Writers of Australia in early 2012, and was shocked and amazed to have both of them accepted for the resulting anthology!!! The 2012 Little Gems anthology was launched in August at the annual RWA conference.

The Diamond of Friday Street

A colourless stone. A colourless woman.
In the dark alleys of fourteenth-century London, the adamant is a rare and precious object. At first sight unremarkable, the gem possesses virtues that far exceed its unprepossessing appearance. At least, that’s what the lapidary’s daughter claims. Or is Miles de la Pole set to fall prey to a charlatan’s lures?

The Nun and the Thief

‘It takes two thieves to make an honest man … or woman.’
Or so his new employer tells Will.
Will is a professional, a journeyman thief on the rise. The lanes and windows of Richard II’s London are his workshop. Thus the idea of co-operating with an amateur – literally a novice – on such a vital commission is unthinkable. The last thing in the world Will wants to be is an honest man, and so the sooner he rids himself of this irritating black-clad woman the better.
